“An ode to Rituraj Bosonto”

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Dhaka is proud to organize a celebration of Bosonto called “Modhur Bosonto” by renowned artist Shreya Guhathakurta from India and Saimul Islam Poluck and Amit Chowdhury with his team from Bangladesh, on 16th  February 2019 at Chhayanaut Cultural Center, House no.-72, Road- 15/A, Dhanmondi, Dhaka at 06:30 PM. 

Shreya Guhathakurta was born into a family of renowned musicians. Her orientation with music started at the age of four and started playback singing at the age of six for the film, "Deepar Prem". From a very early age, Shreya  received ‘Talim’ from Late Kanika Bandyopadhyay.  She was the playback singer for the National Award winning film ‘Antardhan’. She received formal training and diploma from Dakshinee, graduating in 1994. Shreya was awarded by Radio Big FM as the best singer in Rabindra Sangeet category. Her recent shows were held is Singapore, Canada, Bangladesh, U.K, Paris, Australia, Berlin and U.S.A. Shreya is a regular artist on popular T.V channels in India and Bangladesh.

Amit Chowdhury is a talented young Bangladeshi Bharatnatyam dancer. He was first trained in Bharatnatyam by Chittagong's Guru Biswas, and then by Krishna Biswas. Then after a few courses in Shilpakala Academy, he went to Kolkata with ICCR scholarship to Rabindra Bharati University to complete his MA in Bharatnatyam, and alongside received special training in Creative Dance. Some of Amit's prominent performances include participation in the Uday Shankar Dance Festival, the 49th Kalki Kalakar Festival in Mumbai, performance of “Amitojoti” with Bimbavati Devi; “Hey Anata Punya” and “Stars of Tomorrow” organised by the West Bengal Dance Group Foundation, Bengal Classical Fest and Khajuraho Classical Dance Festival. He also currently works as a teacher in Theatre and Performance Studies in Dhaka University.

Elocutionist Samiul Islam Poluck was a child virtuoso and was introduced into the world of recitation at a very tender age. He is a Gold Medalist at Jatiyo Shikkha Shoptaho and a regular artist of Bangladesh Television (BTV). He was born in Faridpur and there he took four years diploma course from Shilpokola Academy, Faridpur. Later in Dhaka he took his vocal tainting from various workshops conducted by Jatiyo Shipokola Academy, Bangladesh. His first solo recitation album was “ITI RABINDRANATH”. He also owns some other Album like “CHETONAR JHONKAR” from Ekattor Tv, “CHADER HASHI”. His Successful Productions Names are Karuna Dharay Eso, Srabon Kheyale, Praner Khela, Roilo Tahar Bani Roilo Bhora Suure, Tomar Oshime, Remembering Tagore, Mayar Khela, and Surer Protidhowni.
