The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), High Commission of India, Dhaka announces commencement of Online workshops on Music and Dance: Odissi Dance, Manipuri Classical Dance, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, Rabindra Nritya and Bharatnatyam Dance by renowned Bangladeshi artists (Gurus) who studied in India under the ICCR’s scholarship scheme.

Details of Gurus and their subjects for the online workshop are as follows:-

Workshop on Rabindra Sangeet by Mr. Sadi Mohammad:- Sadi Mohammad is a popular Rabindra Sangeet Singer of Bangladesh. He is an ICCR SCHOLAR (M.A. in Music, Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal, India and Teacher in Dhaka Music College). He is founder Director of Rabi Raag. He had performed in many countries and is recipient of many awards.

Workshop on Manipuri Classical Dance by Tamanna Rahman:- Tamanna Rahman learned Manipuri Classical Dance under the tutelage of Shantibala Sinha at Dhaka, Guru Kalavati Devi, legendary Guru Bipin Singh at Kolkata & Guru Padmasree Darshana Jhaveri at Mumbai. Tamanna Rahman completed MA in Dance from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 1997 with the scholarship from ICCR, Govt. of India. She is now Lecturer at the Department of Dance, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and is founder Director of Nrityam Nrityasheelon Kendra.

Workshop on Rabindra Nritya by Sharmila Banerjee:- Sharmila Banerjee is a renowned classical, folk and creative dancer and choreographer in Bangladesh. She has graduated from the Visva-Bharati University at Shantiniketan with a Bachelor of Music degree in Dance under ICCR Scholarship and was placed first class first. She received many awards and very recently she has been honored with the very prestigious “Shilpakala Padak 2018” for her contribution in dance in Bangladesh, awarded by the Honorable President of Bangladesh himself.

Workshop on Nazrul Geeti by Sujit Mustafa:- Sujit Mustafa got enrolled in the BMus course of Visva Bharati University (Santiniketan) in the 1986-87 session under the ICCR Scholarship scheme. Later he was enrolled to Sriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, Delhi to study Indian Classical Music under the Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme of ICCR Scholarship. He took his vocal training under Pandit Amarnath, Ustad Hafiz Ahmed Khan and Smt. Shanti Hiranand and on with Guru Shishya Prampara scheme of ICCR he got trained in Patiala Gharana style of singing. He has got many solo song releases in his credit.

Workshop on Odissi Classical Dance by Benazir Salam:- Benazir Salam finished her B.A(Hons) and M.A (Dance: Odissi) from Rabindra Bharati University as an ICCR scholar. She was awarded first-class first (Gold Medal) in Masters Degree examination. She is former dance teacher of Bangladesh Shishu academy. Now she teaches Dance at Bangladesh Academy of fine arts (BAFA), Bangladesh Shilpokola Academy, Pallavi dance centre, Nrittanandan and Bir Sreshtha Noor Muhammad public college

Workshop on Bharatnatyam by Anisul Islam Hero

Anisul Islam Hero is a reputed Bharatnatyam Dancer of Bangladesh and an ICCR Scholar of batch between 1988-1993 from Shriram Bharatya Kala Kendra and Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya,New Delhi. He availed the Guru Shishya Parampara Scholarship Scheme of ICCR and took training in Bharatnatyam under Guru Padmashri Leela Samson. He is Founder Director of Srishti Cultural Centre.

Registration is open to all. Seats are limited and registration will be done on first come first serve basis.
