IGCC organises an Evening of Rabindra Sangeet by Ms. Laisa Ahmed Lisa at Kobi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30 PM on 9 August, 2017.         

Ms. Laisa Ahmed Lisa is a Rabindra Sangeet singer of very high calibre. She has mastered Tagore’s songs in their full flavor and has an impeccable style of singing which is widely praised by connoisseurs. Born in a family of musicians, Lisa was initiated to music by her father, Late Dr. Mafiz Uddin Ahmed. Subsequently, she received training in Rabindra Sangeet from Prof. Ghulam Murshid, Waheedul Haq and Sanjida Khatun. Ustad Amaresh Roy Chowdhury and Ustad Rabiul Hussain had been Lisa’s mentors in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music.

Ms. Lisa is a senior teacher of Rabindra Sangeet and General Secretary at Chhayanaut. She is a Member of Anandadhwani and Vice President of the Central Committee of Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad. She has released 12 musical albums from established music companies like HMV Saregama and Bengal Foundation. She has received several awards like Junior Championship in 1981 and 1982 and Senior championship in 1983 in National Competitions organised by Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad, Citycell Channel I Music Award 2007 for being the Best Singer of Rabindra Sangeet etc. She has travelled for performances to India, USA, UK, Germany and Australia. 

Apart from being a singer, Ms. Laisa Ahmed Lisa also has a PhD degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Dhaka. She is Professor and Chairman, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Jagannath University, Dhaka.
