The India Bangladesh Business Forum

As part of the visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to India from April 07-10, 2017, Ministry of External Affairs, India, in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of the Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (ASSOCHAM), organized the India Bangladesh Business Forum on April 10, 2017 in Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi.
2.H.E Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, was the Chief Guest at the Forum which was also attended by the Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas of India, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan. A 237 member Business Delegation from Bangladesh, led by the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad, interacted with nearly 150 members from the Indian business community at the Forum.
3.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke about the achievements of Bangladesh in the last few years in the socio-economic sphere and invited Indian businessmen to take full advantage of Bangladesh’s steady economic growth, high demographic dividend, competitive business cost and large consumer base. She also invited Indian companies to invest in the special economic zones in Mongla, Bheramara and Mirshorai which have been exclusively dedicated for Indian investors.
4.Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas of India, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, highlighted the growing engagement between India and Bangladesh in different sectors including power and energy and also underlined the economic potential of the sub-region including India’s eastern and northeastern states, and Bangladesh.
5.13 Agreements/Memorandums of Understanding (Link: https://www.hcidhaka.gov.in/pages.php?id=1342) worth nearly USD 10 billion in the power, energy, logistics, education and medical sectors were exchanged during the business event.
6.The Forum also included a session on ‘Synergies in India Bangladesh Economic Relations’ which included presentations by Hon’ble State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority and sharing of experience by senior representatives of the Indian industry operating in Bangladesh
