​​IGCC organises an Evening of Classical Vocal Music by Ms. Shaila Tasmeen at Kobi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30 PM on 15 July, 2017


Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre is organising an Evening of Classical Vocal Music by Ms. Shaila Tasmeen at Kobi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30 PMon 15 July, 2017

Ms. Shaila Tasmeen was inspired to learn music by her elder sister, Ms. Ireen Parveen. She learnt music from several Gurus like Mr. Anup Kumar Das, Late Abul Aziz Bacchu, Late Ustad Rabiul Hossain, Azad Rahman, Sadi Mohammad Takiullah (Tagore songs) from Bangladesh, and Deshai Shubda, Dwarkanath Bhonsle, Lata Prabhu, Sulochana Brihaspati, Saryu Kalekar, Prof Mohan Singh Khangura from India. Presently she is getting Talim from Pandit Tusar Dutta. She has completed her B.P.A. & M.P.A. in Classical Music from M.S University, Baroda, Gujarat, under ICCR Scholarship Scheme.

A talented singer, Shaila Tasmeen has performed in different classical conferences and classical programs like “Hindol” Sangskritik Goshthi Rajshahi, “Sadarange” classical conference (6th time in Chittagong), “Lokkhayapar” classical conference (Narayanganj), “Suddho Songit Prosar Gosthi”, Chhayyanaut, “Bangla Kheyal Conference” Channel I, and Dhaka Shilpakala Academy etc. In 2016, India Bangladesh Foundation sponsored the visit to India of a group from Rajshahi University Music Department faculty which gave performances in four Universities in India, namely, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Viswabharati University Santiniketan, Banaras Hindu University and Rabindra Bharati University. Ms. Shaila Tasmeen was part of the group and gave solo performances in the programmes.

Ms. Tasmeen is a special grade artist of Bangladesh Television and regularly performs in different TV channels of Bangladesh and India. She has released two albums from Kolkata BIHAN MUSIC. First album is Light Classical Music, ‘SAWARIYA CHITCHOR’ and the second album is of Tagore songs ‘BARE BARE FIRALE’.

Ms. Shaila Tasmeen is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Rajshahi University.
