Visit of Foreign Secretary to Bangladesh (02 – 03 March 2020)

1.Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla paid his first official visit to Bangladesh from 02 – 03 March 2020.

2. Foreign Secretary called on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina and conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He briefed her on the recent developments in India Bangladesh relations and also discussed the forthcoming visit of the Prime Minister to Bangladesh at the inaugural ceremony of Mujib Barsho. Foreign Secretary also called on the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Dr. A K Abdul Momen. During the visit, the Foreign Secretary also met H.E. Mr. Obaidul Quader Minister of Road, Transport and Bridges and Major Gen. (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Security Affairs Advisor to Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

3. The Foreign Secretary also met his counterpart H.E. Masud Bin Momen and reviewed the areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

4. On 02 March 2020, the Foreign Secretary was the keynote speaker at a seminar on “Bangladesh and India: A Promising Future” organized by the High Commission of India and Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS). Dr Gowher Rizvi, International Relations Affairs Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh was the Chief Guest of the seminar.
