Remarks by High Commissioner of India, H.E. Ms. Riva Ganguly Das at Inauguration of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry School and College’s Building Extension, Rangpur

(28th November, 2019)

President of the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mr. Mostofa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu,

Office bearers and Members of the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry,

Principal and Staff Members of the school,

Dear students,

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is a great honour for me to be present here today. I would like to thank Rangpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry for giving me this opportunity to be part of this inauguration of extended building of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry School and College.

2.    I deeply admire this Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Building extension constructed by the Chamber from its own resources shows that RCCI is not only promoting the the trade, commerce & Industry but also positively contributing towards upliftment of the under privileged sections of society by way of education. We are happy to be part of this noble cause of Chamber by providing books, 10 Computer sets and Lab equipment to this school at a cost of BDT 29.41 lakhs.

3. Today, India-Bangladesh relations are reaching new heights. Both countries have expanded their cooperation to cover a wide range of areas. India is also partnering with Bangladesh on a number of big projects to improve road, rail, airport and port infrastructure in the country by providing USD 8 billion in Lines of Credit. Government of India is also implementing several high impact community development projects in Bangladesh in the areas of education, health, water, culture, urban development, disaster management, etc. India also offers scholarships to meritorious students under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations programme.

4. I am told that this School has produced very good academic results. I hope that the extended school building will be very useful for the students of the locality. I wish a very bright future for the students.

Thank you.
