​​IGCC organises an Evening of Songs by Manjusha Chakroborty and Sitar Recital by Dhrubajyoti Chakroborty from Kolkata at Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30 PM on Saturday, 29 April 2017 

​          Indira Gandhi Culture Centre is organising an Evening of Songs by Ms. Manjusha Chakraborty and Sitar Recital by Mr. Dhrubajyoti Chakraborty from Kolkata at Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka, at 6.30 PM on Saturday, 29 April 2017. 

Ms. Manjusha Chakraborty got initial training in music in Kirtan from legendary singer Geetasri Chhabi Bandopaddhyay. Later she was trained under Sri Swapan Mukherjee, the disciple of Late Pt. Ramkumar Chattopaddhayay, in Puratani, Tappa and Thumri styles of old Bengali songs. She also learnt Nazrul Geeti from stalwarts like late Dr. Biman Mukhopaddhayay, Sri Shankar Ghosal and Smt. Anasua Mukherjee. She has learnt modern songs from the well-known composer Sri Jatileswar Mukherjee. She has performed in Government level and other prestigious music programs in India and abroad like Lokasanskriti Mela, Bangla Gaan Mela, workshops and recitals organised by Nazrul Academy. She is a regular artist of All India Radio, Kolkata, and has performed in different TV Channels. 

Mr. Dhrubajyoti Chakraborty has received training in Sitar from Prof. Sunil Dev Burman, a disciple of the great Ustad Alauddin Khan. He has also got training from Prof. Santosh Kumar Bandopaddhay, Ex-Professor of Music and of Rampur Senia Gharana.  He has also trained under musical stalwarts like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Pandit Dhrubatara Joshi etc. He is a first class M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Anthropological Science from Calcutta University. His Sitar recitals as well as lecture seminars on Anthropology and Music, i.e Ethnomusicology have been highly appreciated in India and abroad i.e Germany, France, Netherlands, Norway etc. He was honored with the rare opportunity to perform at ‘Leipzig Chamber Music Hall’. He has received many awards and laurels like ‘Suromoni’.
